Before recording the CD, Notice Me, I wanted to make sure that I had access to a studio headed by an engineer who could not only record and mix well, but who was also sensitive to the artistic dynamics of much of the music that I wanted to bring to life... And that's where Mike Talanca, owner of Tunetown comes in.
The first thing that caught my eye with Mike is the clientele list of major artists that he has worked with. David Bowie, Springsteen, Madonna to name a few. (Go to his Website and check it out, it's a long and impressive list.) Heck he's even played video games with Mick Jagger from the rolling Stones between takes..... Impressive as that is, I wanted someone who not only had the equipment, but the ability to use it artistically and Mike, who is very easy to work with, proved to be more than capable in both areas.
Because Mike is a musician and a very good singer (as I think all Italians are !) he immediately "got me." He understood what I wanted to convey. I didn't want to be just loud. I wanted to be dynamic. I wanted the music to be soft at times and crescendo into triple fortes.  I wanted the music to be bright and joyful when called for, and sad and painful when needed. I wanted the music to be true to life… “Verissimo.” As it turned out, Mike was more than capable of helping me capture all those elements and for that I am very greatful.
One other thing that Mike provided for this project were the contacts for the musicians needed to achieve the sound and interpretation of the music I was seeking to bring to life. And once again Mike nailed it. Each of the musicians he recommended are life-long, dedicated performers who clearly understood what it was I was trying to accomplish and had the technical skill to pull off the proper emotion for each part. Well done to all and thank you for sharing your artistry with me!
